Fall Finale

Late October found us wrapped in layers of warmth and fall colors.

I  went on Maggie’s first field trip with her to a farm.  We enjoyed a hayride, apple cider and donuts, and learning about pumpkins and the various animals on the farm.  A big highlight for both of us was getting to choose a pumpkin to take home.

Bret and I hosted our first dinner party in more than a year.  We served ham, squash, mashed potatoes, and a lovely fall salad that included pears.  It was fun to have a “grown-up” night with two other couples, although our main topic of conversation was our kids!

Bret and I lived on the edge this fall as we got dressed up for a Halloween party.  In the end, we couldn’t decide whether we were an eighties couple or a hick and a hooker…

Maggie really got into exploring a friend’s backyard and its leaves at a Dora-themed birthday party.

Bret’s parents came for a visit — just in time for Maggie’s “Black and Orange-tastic” party at school.

And Bret’s mom recorded our first experience with pumpkin-carving. Slimy!

Then the big weekend began…

…Starting with trick-or-treating downtown…

…Then attending our church’s harvest party with friends…

…And finally trick-or treating at the homes of close friends (canine and otherwise!).

Happy Halloween 2010!!!
